As a Bomb Watcher Evey was handed a shotgun, beautiful thing that she was supposed to carry everywhere, she'd joined the Last Front, a varied role which involved helping the emergency services, the police in particular, her gun was to be used for issues of public order and when all else failed. Though the mere thought of a double barrelled shotgun against a potential machine gun was a bit on the far fetched side. Laughable even. She had however successfully used it today against a looter, nice dent in the idiot's head, fancy pulling a stunt like that . The major benefit of this work was that it was paid, she no longer had to work as an admin and she felt useful.

From her little hut she heard footsteps approaching. Keeping her gaze upwards, there'd been no heaven sent death tonight. the foot steps stopped by her hut. It was Dan.

"It's almost Knocking off time lovely. Dawn's already peeping and it's no time to be walking alone. Lock up and I'll walk you home. "

She laughed, filling the last of her handover sheet in for the quiet night.

"Dan, I have a gun, trust me, they'll leave me well alone. "

She Left the box and he pulled her towards him.

"So do I. But it gives me an excuse to see you before I go. "

He hugged, then kissed her head.

God it felt good to be in Dan's Arms. So still and safe.

"Alright, let's go the long way, what time are you off?"

"Five hours or so. "

"That's alright, we just won't sleep."

His finger's intertwined with hers, she felt comfortable and safe, gently pulling him forward as the grey dawn peered over the silhouetted houses. He pulled back, kissing her once, hen pressing a blue velveteen box into her hands, a pearl ribbon tied up into a neat bow held the lid in place.

"Do you want to make a go of it.?"

He was so matter of fact, so like him, she didn't hesitate. She never understood so much hesitation in films. Placing the ring with its five daintily set diamonds, firmly on her finger in all it's glittering glory.

Her answer came in taking him by the hand again.

"Yes, lets make a go of it."
